Lighthouse Now Open

One of the Mississippi Gulf Coast's major attractions, the Biloxi Lighthouse, has reopened after being damaged by Hurricane Katrina and undergoing a 14-month, $400,000 restoration.

Yet to come? Biloxi’s new Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art will open in November 2010.

Tupelo, MS, birthplace of Elvis Presley, has unveiled a new Healthworks’ Kids’ Museum based on the original HealthWorks in South Bend, IN.

Stateman's Home Restored

PHOTOLOGUE: Lost in Time -- The Ruins of Windsor

Windsor was one of the most magnificent plantation mansions of Mississippi and the South. It survived the War Between the States. But as the owners were preparing for an evening party and returning from Port Gibson, MS, they spotted smoke coming from the location of the mansion. When they arrived home, they discovered the magnificent home fully engulfed in flames. The mansion was destroyed, deserted and never rebuilt. Today, only Windsor's tall columns remain, seemingly lost in time. It's an eerie site worth a short visit.

Todd English Opens Olives at Beau Rivage

When Biloxi's Beau Rivage opened after repairs and upgrades necessitated by 2005's Hurricane Katrina, the casino and hotel weren't the only draws for travelers and locals alike. Swanky new restaurants also are drawing rave reviews.

One is Olives, a trendy Todd English restaurant that opened last December. Alabama freelance writer Lynn Grisard Fullman and her husband, photographer Milton Fullman, were on the scene the first day Olive's reopened.

Newest Blues Trails Markers Up in Bolivar County

For fans of the Blues, Bolivar County is now home to two additional historic markers. It's the latest in what will become a grouping of 110 Blues Trails markers throughout Mississippi.

The latest two celebrate railroad train depots and their use in songs by Blues artists. Check out the state's announcement on these newest additions.
